How Temp To Perm Placements Can Help Get You Back To Work This September

The government recently unveiled detailed plans for all children and young people to return to full-time education from September. This welcome news will lift the current restrictions on group sizes to allow schools, colleges and nurseries to fully reopen, as id infection rates continue to fall.

COVID-19 secure measures will remain in place to reduce the risk of transmission, with schools being asked to keep children in class or year group sized ‘bubbles’ and encourage older children to keep their distance from each other and staff where possible. This is alongside protective measures such as regular cleaning and handwashing.

So, with hope on the horizon for the start of the new academic year in September, many are looking to secure a new role, for this new era. When setting out on your job search, it’s important to decide on location, school type, temporary or permanent roles – but there is a solution which offers the best of both.

A permanent role may have its benefits, such as security and the ability to build relationships, but a temporary role has a wealth of positives to consider, particularly flexibility. By taking a supply teacher role, you’re able to try out a new school without long term commitment. You can experience the culture and test drive different classroom settings to see if they are the right fit for your strengths. The benefit of a temporary to permanent role therefore, allows you to transition to being a full time member of staff if you’ve enjoyed your experience during the temping period.

If you are returning to teaching after a break, a temporary role can be the perfect way to get back into the swing of the classroom environment. It can be daunting going back to work, especially following the long hiatus the COVID-19 pandemic has enforced. A temporary role allows you to find your feet again and establish your confidence before making any permanent decisions.

During a long-term temporary role you would also benefit from a high level of support from our team. You would receive visits from our education development managers to provide support and assistance. Continuous Professional Development (CPD) has always been important at Simply Education and the lockdown period has made no exception.
