Getting Back Into Routine

After a lovely break, many of us feel refreshed and ready to tackle the new academic year! However, it can be difficult to get back into the swing of things after a summer of relaxing. If you’re struggling to get back into routine, here are a few suggestions to help you out.

Baby steps

Establishing routines can be a challenging process. If you attempt to make too many changes at once it can be even more difficult to stick to them and that can be super frustrating. Instead, try identifying the changes you’d like to make to your routine and incorporate them one at a time.

Start your morning off right

Improve your chances of having a productive day by starting when you wake up. Getting up when your alarm goes off instead of snoozing it or making yourself breakfast instead of skipping it can make you feel more motivated and encourage you to continue being productive throughout the day.

Write it down

If you’re struggling to fit everything you need to do into the day, writing it down can really help. Start by writing a to-do list for the day (or week if you want to plan ahead) and then try writing out a little schedule. If your schedule is looking crammed, move some of the less important tasks to the next day. Planning ahead and making sure you haven’t got too much on your plate each day can really help reduce your stress levels on a daily basis.
