Learning Support Assistant - Secondary - South Northampton

Learning Support Assistants (LSA’s) play an essential part in the life of the school, both in and out of the classroom situations. The primary function for the post holder is to work at the direction of the teacher to whom they are assigned and assist in providing support to the children in the class.

We offer :

** Good opportunities to progress

** CPD training for a range of topics and support

** Competitive salary

** 24/7 Access to an experienced consultant

You will need :

** A good and positive work attitude

** Willingness to help and support students in education

** Understanding and flexibility to work in a high pressure environment at times

** Good Communication skills

** Ability to understand others and support their emotions

Support staff are required to spend part of the lunch period each day with the children. This involvement will either be direct supervision during the meal or the provision of an activity for the break session prior to afternoon school and playground and corridor supervision. You are also expected to participate in a rota for the supervision of morning breaks.

All adults in the school undertake very demanding pastoral responsibilities for the children in our care. The need for understanding, sensitivity and consistency in working with our children is paramount if we are to address their social and emotional skills.

We particularly welcome applicants with skills, hobbies and experience of teaching an activity which could be incorporated into our enrichment curriculum. Previous examples include fishing, cycling, drama and yoga but we are always looking for new opportunities to extend the enrichment offer to our pupils.
