Job Role: Learning Support Mentor
Location: Wolverhampton, West Midlands
Salary £15,000 to £19,000
Hours: 8:30 am till 4 pm (Monday to Friday)
Simply Education is currently seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant to work in a special school in the area Lanesfield, Wolverhampton. The role will involve supporting children with mental health challenges. Simply can offer specialised training for people who have not worked in a school before but have skills from elsewhere that can be transferred into an educational setting.
The school are looking for a Teaching Assistant to join the team ready for the September start, ideally, the school would like the successful applicant to start before the end of the summer term to get them integrated and become a functional part of the team ready for September.
What does your new role entail:
Assist the classroom teacher in delivering lessons and supporting pupils with SEN in the classroom.
Work with small groups or individual pupils, providing additional support and assistance as required. Help to create and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment for pupils with SEN.
Attend meetings with parents and other professionals as required to discuss pupils' progress and support needs.
Undertake any other duties as required to support the smooth running of the school.
Monitor and track pupil progress and provide regular feedback to the class teacher and other professionals.
Support pupils to achieve their full potential, both academically and socially, in a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
Requirements:
Relevant experience working with students with special educational needs, preferably in a secondary school setting.
Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting students with special needs.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents/guardians, and colleagues.
Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of students.
A proactive approach to learning and professional development.
Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check or willingness to obtain one.
