Maths Teacher
Location: Prenton, Birkenhead
Salary: £30k to £36k
Hours: Full Time - 8:30am to 4:00pm
Contract: Long term with a view of becoming Permanent
Start Date: October half term or January start
Simply Education are looking for an experienced Teacher to join an alternative provision in Prenton. This position will include working 5 days a week teaching KS3 and KS4 students with various subjects and further studies. This setting supports pupils with ADHD and ASD and SEMH needs.
This small provision caters for young people aged 11-14 who have experienced a negative impact on their education experience and need a boost to reengage in their education and build on their confidence and self-esteem. The school’s focus is to provide students with the knowledge and skills to develop better coping strategies and understanding of their emotions through a multi – agency approach and tailored therapy.
The school has a capacity of 32 students at one time with 12 students currently on role, this is to ensure a bespoke learning approach can be established for each student. The students work in small groups and classrooms are comparatively smaller than that of a mainstream setting; pupils are taught in small class sizes of between 3-5 pupils and there is a high staff to pupil ratio. Additionally, the school has developed a beauty room and hairdressers where the students can work towards gaining vocational qualifications at a level 1 and 2. The school also focuses on providing activities to support students to access life skills through weekly activities including horse riding and team building activities.
As the successful maths teacher, you will be responsible for the planning and delivery of high-quality lesson informed by the national curriculum and considering each individual student’s needs. As a maths teacher you will work closely with the classes teaching assistants to challenge learning, build confidence and promote a love of learning for maths. Each student within the class will be working at different levels so the successful maths teacher must have strong differentiation skills and the ability to create an inclusive learning environment.
Maths Teacher Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status
- The ability to plan and teach well structured and effective lessons.
- Ability to effectively develop the confidence, language, behaviour and social skills of pupils between the ages of 11-16
- Quick thinking with the ability to adapt with ease to new environments
- An understanding of working with students with SEMH needs
- A good understanding of behaviour management and how to implement this into your practice.
- A sense of Humour and ability to build rapport with others.
