The school we are working in partnership is a lovely purpose-built specialist provision, supporting students experiencing social, emotional and/or mental health difficulties. The school is based in Crewe which has excellent transport links via public transport. Additionally, the staff have created a unique learning environment which is walm and welcoming. High expectations are in place for the student’s behaviour and attitude towards learning, consequently, there is minimal behavioural issue.

The school has capacity for 68 pupils, aged 5-18 years old. The school prides itself on offering a child centred learning approach that focuses on the child’s needs. Additionally, all children are offered a varied, interesting, and inspiring curriculum with a focus on vocational and well-being subjects as well as academic subjects. The school is currently undergoing modification of their school grounds with the addition of a wonderful outdoor learning facility which includes chickens and guinea pigs that the students have full responsibility to care for. Additionally, there is outdoor sports facilities including a basketball court, football pitch and playing field.

As a Science Teaching Assistant, you will work collaboratively to support students to build their resilience, self-worth, and ability to manage and self-regulate their own feelings. Consequently, their children become confident, contributing members of society who go on to become successful adults, leading happy lives. The students and staff work collaboratively to create an appealing learning space and reflection area. One of the school’s regulation stations is themed as the north pole and creates a safe space in the form of an igloo where the students can have the time and space they need.

The ideal Science Teaching Assistant for this role will have experience working in education, be comfortable contributing to the school and classroom values and ethos and be committed to supporting students with social emotional and mental health needs.
