Simply Education is seeking a dynamic and resilient Behaviour support Teaching Assistant to join and work collaboratively in alternative provisions. The successful candidate will support vulnerable students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, fostering a positive learning environment and promoting academic success. This role requires adaptability, empathy, and a strong understanding of behaviour management strategies. Some of our students have additional attachment and trauma response so the successful teaching assistant must be prepared to invest the time and patience in our students to promote the best outcomes.

Simply Education are looking for teaching assistants that have an open mindset and understand the important of using initiative in the role. Each day is different, so you must be adaptable and receptive of an ever-changing environment. Our schools strive to provide students with engaging and creative curriculum that considers students individual needs. An element of enthusiasm and a good sense of humour would be required.

Key Responsibilities:

Implementing Behaviour Management Strategies: Teaching assistants often assist in implementing behaviour management strategies outlined in students' behaviour support plans. This may involve using techniques such as positive reinforcement, de-escalation strategies, and conflict resolution skills.

Supporting Inclusion: Teaching assistants help promote inclusion by facilitating the participation of students with needs in various classroom and school activities. They may collaborate with teachers to modify activities and assignments to ensure accessibility for all students.

Providing Emotional Support: Students with SEMH needs may require additional emotional support. Teaching assistants should be empathetic listeners and provide encouragement and reassurance to help students cope with challenges and build resilience.

Building Positive Relationships: Establishing trusting and positive relationships with students is essential. Teaching assistants should create a supportive and nurturing environment where students feel safe to express themselves and seek help when needed.

Requirements:

A full, clean driving license (preferred but not essential)

Previous experience working with SEMH children/adults

Resilience is key for this role due to some behaviour's that can present
