Job Position: SEND Teaching Assistant

Location: Scunthorpe

Contract: Temporary, Full-Time or Part-Time

Salary: £440 - £500 per week

Simply Education are seeking a dynamic and resilient Teaching Assistant to join work in collaboratively in a SEND College. The successful candidate will support vulnerable students with a range of different needs, fostering a positive learning environment and promoting academic success. This role requires adaptability, empathy, and a strong understanding of behaviour management strategies.

Simply Education are looking for teaching assistants that have an open mindset and understand the important of using initiative in the role. Each day is different, so you must be adaptable and receptive of an ever-changing environment. Our school strives to provide students with engaging and creative curriculum that considers students individual needs. An element of enthusiasm and a good sense of humor would be required.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Supporting Individual Learning Needs: SEND teaching assistants work closely with classroom teachers to understand the specific learning needs of students with disabilities or special educational needs. They provide one-on-one or small group support tailored to each student's requirements, ensuring they can access the curriculum effectively.

2. Adaptation of Materials: They may assist in modifying learning materials and resources to make them accessible to students with diverse needs. This could involve creating visual aids, simplifying instructions, or using assistive technology to accommodate different learning styles.

3. Classroom Assistance: In the classroom, SEND teaching assistants provide practical assistance to students, helping them to stay focused, engaged, and on task. They may offer additional explanations, prompts, or encouragement to ensure students understand and complete their work.

4. Behavior Management: They play a key role in managing behavior and promoting positive social interactions among students. This involves implementing behavior management strategies, offering support during challenging situations, and helping students develop appropriate social skills.

5. Communication with Parents and Carers: SEND teaching assistants often maintain regular communication with parents and carers, providing updates on students' progress, discussing any concerns, and collaborating on strategies to support learning at home.

Requirements:

Driving License would be preferred, however this is not essential

Previous experience working with children with SEND needs would be preferred

Resilience and Empathy are key skills to have for this role
