Based on over 1100 observations, we discuss a range of teaching practices commonly found in ‘Good’ and ‘Outstanding’ lessons, and highlight what is most often missing from ‘Requires Improvement’ and ‘Inadequate’ lessons. The Education Development Manager (EDM) leading the webinar will then elaborate, where necessary, on best practice. Afterwards, we send attendees a summary of what we think is best practice relating to the discussed topics. All of our courses are complemented by supporting documents and, in addition, we give you access to over 220 of our Teaching Skill Resources. Virtual Early Years Foundation Stage – Update on latest 2021 DfE Framework and Assessment for EYFS – Including Teaching and Behaviour Management Strategies (now CPD Certified) This one day course is designed to refresh key EYFS skills and update awareness of the latest standards as outlined in the 2021 EYFS framework. Aimed at colleagues returning to teaching after a prolonged absence or those who mainly teach KS2 but want to extend their work opportunities within Early Years and indeed those who work primarily in early years. The course is suitable for Nursery assistants, TA’s, CS and teachers. The course is comprised of eight elements: 1) Framework 2021 update, 2) Assessment 2020, 3) Behaviour Management, 4) Teaching Strategies, 5) Effective Learning, 6) Lesson Observation, 7) Importance of Play, and 8) Safeguarding.  Course Overview The course starts with a review of the latest Overarching Principles as outlined in the 2021 update, concentrating on the unique child, positive relationships, enabling environments, learning and development. This followed by and awareness session on the latest statutory and teacher assessment requirements. Promoting positive behaviour – expectations and management strategies are explored. Activities for course members help them to explore and discuss the management and resolution of various behaviours they will come across in the day to day or longer term placements. We have also included a section on challenging behaviours and strategies for you to manage them. Children at play is an opportunity to really develop learning and understanding, we explore its importance and strategies you can employ in the outside areas. Finally we update you on the latest safeguarding guidance to ensure all children are safe in your setting. Virtual ISENTCompletion of our Virtual Introduction to SEN Teaching (VISENT) course will be useful for teachers looking to work with pupils presenting significant challenge in Special School, PRU or challenging mainstream settings. The traditional face-to-face course has temporarily been replaced with this virtual version of the same two-day training. The VISENT is comprised of four parts, all of which have been adapted for the virtual environment, with reduced duration and slightly narrowed content delivery. As such, more responsibility is given to you to supplement the learning gained virtually with the resources provided after the course, including a copy of the full face-to-face slides. Course Overview Day 1 – MorningVirtual Safer Working Practices, Special School & Role Definitions, Qualities & Skills (2 hrs 30 mins)The Virtual ‘Safer Working Practices’ training builds upon the Simply Education online Safeguarding tutorial, covering a range of key ways to keep yourself safe whilst working in the classroom. The Safeguarding tutorial is a mandatory expectation for all staff working in an unsupervised capacity with children or young people for Simply Education and will give a basic understanding of roles and responsibilities in relation to safeguarding children and young people as well as an understanding of some of the indicators of potential abuse that they need to be aware of and act on.
