Primary SEND Teacher

Our supportive SEND School that provides specialized education for students with learning disabilities and developmental delays is seeking a dedicated Primary SEND Teacher to join our team.

As a Primary SEND Teacher in a specialist school you will play a crucial role in identifying student needs early and providing tailored, multi-disciplinary support to enable academic, social and personal development for every child. Within the role, you will be expected to adapting lessons, activities, and educational materials to meet the individual learning needs of SEND students - this includes things like modifying the curriculum, providing visual supports, using assistive technology etc. Empathy, patience and passion for teaching SEND children are essential.

Primary SEND Teacher responsibilities include:

Planning and teaching engaging lessons across subjects catered to students' individual learning levels and needs

Employing specialized techniques and interventions such as visual supports, assistive technology, differentiated instruction

Collaborating with the SENCO, therapists, and parents to develop IEPs and implement customized support strategies

Promoting student expression and self-confidence in a nurturing classroom environment

Fostering development of academic, social-emotional, communication, and life skills

Tracking progress and making instructional adjustments as needed

Maintaining an organized, positive classroom climate

Salary : £135 - 160 a day

Contract : Daily Cover / Long Term Roles Available

Hours : 8:30 till 4:30 - Monday to Friday

The ideal candidate has:

Primary teaching qualification and special education certification

Experience teaching students with learning disabilities, ADHD, ASD, Down syndrome

Knowledge of SEND teaching strategies and adaptations

Strong classroom and behavior management abilities

Enthusiasm for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams

Exceptional patience, empathy and passion for working with special needs children

The successful candidate will be required to:

- Subject to two years of satisfactory references
