This role is to join a dynamic team within a lovely mainstream school.
As an Autism and SEN Practitioner, there is no such a thing as a typical day every day is interesting and varied. You will support students at school and out in the community you will be providing support that makes a real difference to our young people's lives.
Whatever your day includes, you'll need to be patient, caring and a great communicator. You'll also need to work well as part of a team and be happy speaking to other healthcare professionals and parents of the person youre supporting.
The thorough training and induction programme will ensure you have the support, skills and tools you need to deliver quality care for each young person. The school will even support you to complete your Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare if you are not yet qualified a statutory requirement for a career in childcare. Many of the staff members become experts in supporting those with autism and are able to progress to more senior roles.
The school operate a rota based on a rolling pattern of early and late shifts throughout 52 weeks of the year, including weekends and public holidays.
Autism practitioners / support workers are the key to the progress and achievements of young people at the school and aim to make them feel valued and supported with training in autism along with knowledge and skills they need to do a great job and develop their careers.
