We are seeking an outstanding SEND Teaching Assistant to work with this school, delivering high-quality, child-centred learning opportunities that create a learning environment that appropriately challenges children’s knowledge and understanding. As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping students aged between 4-11 to develop and grow, supporting them in their academic studies and wider life skills.

This school takes a child-centred approach to learning, working with each individual student to understand their current needs and interests, and developing an education plan that suits them best. You will work with teachers to support students to build on their prior knowledge and plug any gaps in their learning.

In addition to academic studies, this school provides students with the experiences, life skills, and knowledge they need to be successful in their futures. This includes practical skills such as cooking and financial knowledge, as well as social skills and emotional support.

The ideal SEND Teaching Assistant for this role will have experience working in education, be comfortable managing a classroom, and be committed to supporting students with social emotional and mental health needs. You will have excellent communication skills, be adaptable and flexible, and have a passion for helping young people to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

- to deliver high-quality bespoke learning opportunities that focus on the student's interests and vocational studies, as well as functional skills in English and Maths.

- Support the students to become re-engaged with their learning.

- Model and promote high behaviour expectations.

- Communicate effectively and build rapport and common interests with the students to inspire and motivate them.

- To prepare the students for life beyond school.

 

Key Requirements:

- An understanding of working with students who have Autism.

- Knowledge and understanding of vocational education.

- Strong communication skills.

- Resilience and the ability to model and promote high behavior expectations.

- Ability to inspire and motivate students.

- Willingness to learn new skills and techniques.

- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

- Driving license and access to own transport is desirable.
