Teaching Assistant (PMLD/Challenging Behaviours)

Simply Education is looking for a Teaching assistant to support our KS3 / KS4 classes in a PMLD Secondary School Setting. You will have a small class of students to support in their learning and development. As a Teaching Assistant you will be expected to support your students EHCP's and assist with their learning as well as teaching the class.

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team, a secondary SEND school specializing in supporting students with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), challenging behaviours, and diverse needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide one-on-one support to students with PMLD, addressing their educational, social, emotional, and physical needs.

Assist students with personal care tasks, such as toileting, feeding, and mobility, with sensitivity and respect.

Implement positive behavior management strategies to support students with challenging behaviors, promoting a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Adapt and modify instructional materials and activities to meet the individual needs of each student.

Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to ensure a cohesive and effective approach to student support.

Maintain accurate records and documentation of student progress and incidents.

Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.

Requirements:

Experience working with individuals with PMLD, challenging behaviors, and diverse special needs (preferred).

Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to make a positive impact on students' lives.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.

Willingness to assist with personal care tasks, as needed.

Excellent time management and organizational skills.

Commitment to promoting inclusivity and respecting diversity.

Working Hours: Full-time, 5 days per week, 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
