Position: Maths Teacher (SEMH)

Location: Scunthorpe

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm

Contract: Initially temporary with potential for permanent placement

Salary: Starting from £30,000 per annum

At Simply Education, we're seeking a dynamic and compassionate Maths teacher to join our team and work within an SEMH environment. Your role will involve providing invaluable support to students who present challenging behavior, requiring strong behavior management skills and a nurturing approach.

Simply Education is seeking a dynamic and resilient KS3 Maths Teacher to join and work collaboratively in alternative provisions. The successful candidate will support vulnerable students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, fostering a positive learning environment and promoting academic success. This role requires adaptability, empathy, and a strong understanding of behaviour management strategies. Some of our students have additional attachment and trauma response so the successful teaching assistant must be prepared to invest the time and patience in our students to promote the best outcomes.

Key responsibilities.

Building Positive Relationships: Establishing trusting and positive relationships with students is essential. Teachers should create a supportive and nurturing environment where students feel safe to express themselves and seek help when needed.

Implementing Behaviour Management Strategies: This may involve using techniques such as positive reinforcement, de-escalation strategies, and conflict resolution skills.

Providing Emotional Support: Students with SEMH needs may require additional emotional support. Teachers should be empathetic listeners and provide encouragement and reassurance to help students cope with challenges and build resilience.

Assessment and Feedback: Develop and administer formative and summative assessments to evaluate students' understanding of scientific concepts. Provide constructive feedback to students to help them improve their knowledge and skills.

Curriculum Delivery: Design and deliver engaging and interactive lessons that align with the KS3 Maths curriculum. This involves creating lesson plans, selecting appropriate teaching materials, and integrating hands-on activities and experiments to facilitate learning.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will hold QTS or a relevant teaching qualification.

A BA in Mathematics or a relevant topic.

Previous experience teaching.

A driving license would be preferred due to the location of the school.
