Salary: £19,000 to £22,300 per annum

Hours: Full time: Monday to Friday - 8:30am to 4:30pm

About the school:

Simply Education is currently working in partnership with an SEMH mixed Primary and Secondary School in Stockport. This SEMH setting provides bespoke learning opportunities for young people aged 7-16 with Autism with associated social and communication needs, trauma and attachment. The classes are small with no more than 7 students at any time; the school focuses on changing students’ mindset and giving their students all the tools to be successful in their future. The school has an on site clinical and therapeutic team and offer opportunities for performing arts. The school focuses primarily on outdoor learning as the school is surrounded by beautiful scenery.

The role:

The school is currently looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant to work on a 1.1 basis with pupils across all Key Stages that display challenging behaviour. The ideal Teaching Assistant can engage well with the pupils and has strong skills in de-escalating and supporting challenging behaviour. Students in this provision need to feel encouraged and supported when facing challenges in their learning so the right candidate must be a real advocate for supporting students to reach their full potential. As a Teaching Assistant, you will be calm and nurturing in your approach with the ability to build great relationships with pupils. Each day will be different from the last therefore being adaptable is very important.

Due to the nature of the role the school is looking for somebody who has previously worked as a teaching assistant and has relevant experience working with vulnerable children. The ideal candidate would be able to commit to a full-time role Monday - Friday 8:30am till 4:30pm as students receiving consistency is vital. A full clean driving license and access to own transport is essential due to the location of the School.

Requirements:

- GCSE in Maths and English graded C and above

- A good understanding of behaviour management and how to implement this into your practice.

- Experience working with children with additional needs

- Full, Clean driving license and access to own transport is essential

Key responsibilities:

- Building nurturing and meaningful relationships with pupils with SEND

- Be comfortable working with small groups to support pupils with their learning.

- Experience and a good understanding of behaviour management and how to implement this into your practice

- Supporting with individualized student programs.

- Great personality who can engage with children

- Understand the different requirements of individual SEN and adapt accordingly

- A passion for education and for making a difference in education

- Additional skills such as Sport, Music and Art are a bonus
